Christmas is Coming

As I type this from my office, the atrium is in darkness except for the glow of the beautiful Christmas tree.
Thank you to the PSC who worked hard this week to prepare for the tree lighting ceremony, which was held this morning.

Chirps

From next week all class blogs will have a tab with the title 'Chirp' added to their home page.

The Chirp will have the latest information about upcoming events so visitors will no longer need to scroll through the main body of the latest blog post to see what is happening.

I will be adding my Chirp tab on Monday 18th November.

Hedgehogs?

You may be thinking that the title of this fortnight's posting on my blog is a rather prickly subject! However it is inspired by a keynote speech I attended at the FOBISSEA Headteacher's conference last week. I was introduced to the 'Hedgehog Concept', which is so described because the hedgehog does only one key thing when attacked by a predator - it rolls up into a ball.  In relation to education the idea is that educators should ensure that the hedgehog concept in their school is only about learning and that everything we do should be because we want students to learn. So I have decided that apart from using my blog to inform you about events in school, I will add links to some of the latest ideas about learning, especially in the 21st century. The following link will take you to an 11 minute animation which explains why there is a need for change from the old style of education. Ken Robinson's ideas about education for the future

If you would like to find out more about what the PTA does please come to the next meeting, which will be next Thursday at 8:45am in the conference room (Junior wing of the EPC).
